Recommended Reading for Kids: Flotsam

Flotsam by David Weisner is one of the Reading Kingdom’s recommended books for children. Reading expert and Reading Kingdom creator, Dr. Marion Blank explains why:

Some books have a magical quality; Flotsam is one of them. In this magnificent wordless book, an inquisitive boy collects flotsam from the ocean—picking up anything that gets washed ashore. Then one day, he finds a barnacle-encrusted underwater camera filled with amazing pictures—pictures that fill the pages of the book. The pictures shift perspectives from close-ups to landscape views and the layout is filled with inventive details and delightful twists that do wonders for stimulating the reader’s imagination.
