Learn to read at Reading Kingdom: Laughter included!

learn-to-read
Tracy is a mom whose daughter enjoys to learn to read and laugh with Lingo and company at Reading Kingdom.  Here’s what she thinks of our fun learning program:

“[My daughter] Middlest said she really enjoyed the program…The graphics are colorful and appealing, and many of the icons that popped up after my daughter answered correctly had her laughing hysterically…She is very hands-on and loves computer work. She progressed well through the program and never gave me any complaint about the program. As a matter of fact, she often asked if she could do “the owl lessons.” She also learned to find all of her letters on the keyboard and was able to practice quite a bit of spelling.” — Tracy Glockle

Our interactive reading program is a wise investment!

interactive-reading-program
Teaching children to read is one of the best investments you can make during the years of early learning development.  Our interactive reading program does exactly that, giving them an interest in wanting to learn to read.  Becky thinks we’ve broken the mold for teaching to read. Here’s what she has to say:

“Reading Kingdom is an online program designed to teach children ages 4-10 years old how to read and write (to a third grade level).  This is an interactive reading program and you can customize it based on each child’s needs. I found it very easy to use and because it is so fun, children feel as if they are playing a game and are eager to practice. My daughter loved this as a way to get more computer time; I didn’t mind because I know this program was helping her have fun and get better at reading!

This program isn’t your every-day-run-of-the-mill reading program! I found it uniquely different in the way it brings in elements of phonics (and whole language) and added in other skills needed to achieve reading and writing success. There weren’t a bunch of complicated rules to work through; we noticed the use of something called the “six skills method.” This method focuses on sequencing, motor skills, phonemic awareness, meaning, grammar, and reading comprehension. This reading enhancement program works with any curriculum and can used in any homeschool, preschool – 3rd grade classrooms, ESL programs, and special education classes.

My daughter especially liked the graphics used throughout the program, she was always engaged and never lost interest! I smiled because I knew she was learning and having fun at the same time. One of the things she does is try to look at pictures and determine what is said in the sentence based on what the picture looks like. My daughter learned very quickly to go right to the sentence instead of trying to evaluate the picture instead. :)

I found this program to be comprehensive in what it had to offer, definitely worth its weight in gold!” — Becky Gustafson

The difference our reading program makes

reading-program
Jennifer explains how her children are using Reading Kingdom and why our approach brings real results to her family:

“There are so many reading programs out right now on the market.  Some are specifically in book form and work on particular reading skills, such as phonics.  Others are colorful and flashy books to help teach reading and are very “busy”.  Still others are online as a series of games and the parent is left wondering if their child is actually learning anything or just playing games.

One program that we have tried with two of my kids is Reading Kingdom.  This program DOES work on phonics and comprehension like many of those book programs.  It is also an online site that is somewhat in game form, so the kids get the flash and fun of an online program with built in virtual incentives to move on.  However, parents needn’t wonder if their child is ACTUALLY learning.  Just sitting next to your child to see what they are doing will tell you what you need to know about how this program works!  Through the progression of the program, as the child shows proficiency to move on, the student will systematically build on what they have learned and begin to cover new skills.

Reading Kingdom is an online-based reading instruction program for students roughly aged 4-10.  I believe this age range to be accurate, and I have used it with both of my older children at about age 5.  If you have a very bright and above average 3 year old, this program could probably work for you.  Additionally, if you have an older student that requires some remedial work, this program could work beyond age 10.  The program itself is not babyish like other reading software I have seen, so the age range could be extended higher if there is a need, probably up to age 13 or 14, in my opinion.

A neat component of this program is the initial placement test.  This will actually place your child in the correct part of the program and meet them at their current ability level.  You can see how far along your child is moving in the program from the main screen before starting the program where it will tell you how far into the particular section your child has worked, as well as the overall percentage of the program they have completed.  It has a little icon to tell you how well your child is doing as far as the quality of their work.  This is helpful so that skills can be revisited or could signal to the parent that they may need to sit down next to their student for a few sessions to make sure that their student is paying attention and understanding what the program is telling them to do.

I love that Reading Kingdom provides a challenge for users using a predictable, encouraging, and colorful interface!  It really helps keep motivation up!” – Jennifer Land

Children who use Reading Kingdom see the fun in learning to read, while parents quickly recognize how our reading program separates itself from the rest of the field.  Created by one of the world’s top experts in literacy, Dr. Marion Blank, Reading Kingdom teaches children how to read and write up to the third grade level using all six skills needed for complete literacy success.  Click here to sign up for a free 30 day trial of our online reading program – we hope to see you soon!

Children who learn to read with Lingo achieve mastery!

learn-to-read
Finding a program that’s just right for a child can be challenging – like one of Goldilocks quests. But the Reading Kingdom takes out the guesswork because it is “just right” as a way to lead children to a love of learning.  Amy uses Reading Kingdom with her daughter; here’s what she thinks about the program:

“The lessons are short-no more than 15 minutes each, and maybe even as fast as about 5 minutes depending on the child.  Mastery must be attained or the child does not progress, but as I’d watch my daughter stumble from time to time, I was impressed that the route to mastery is not daunting, and is done so sequentially that even when she had to spend a little longer learning a word, my daughter never got discouraged.

There are enough “frills” that my 7 year old thought it was fun, but not so many that the program becomes just another reading game.  My daughter is very delayed in reading, and I really appreciated the lack of any reference to grade levels.  My daughter has no idea that she tested at the beginning of the program when a “normal” child her age would have tested higher, and as a mom, that means a lot to me.  It is very interesting to watch the program adapt to your child’s responses-giving them more activities with a word that is causing them trouble, and moving more quickly with words that they have good mastery of.

I also really, really like that the students learn to type each word, and to type words in sentences.  They must capitalize the letter that starts the sentence, and they must use correct punctuation within the sentence, including putting a space after a comma.  I think it’s brilliant that they are teaching the children how to type sentences correctly in addition to just reading them.

Oh, and reports are e-mailed to parents each week about your child’s progress, plus parents can log in and see how their child is doing… Reading Kingdom has become part of “school” for my daughter.  She does it every day, and will continue to this whole year.  I have seen an improvement in her reading outside of the program, and I’m also seeing a desire on her part to read some “real books”.” — Amy Anthony

Now that you’ve discovered Reading Kingdom, there’s no longer a need to look for the online reading program that’s “just right.”  Reading Kingdom’s unique approach to teach reading to children has pleased thousands of parents and teachers around the world.  If you want to see the results in your own children, click here for a free 30 day trial and foster a love of literacy in your children today!

Using all six skills to learn to read produces pride!

learn-to-read
Motivation is crucial as children learn to read. Here’s what Heather has to say about the enjoyment her daughter receives playing and learning with Lingo and company at the Reading Kingdom:

“[My daughter] Firefly LOVED the program so much that any time I asked her to work on the computer (doing Reading Kingdom), she’d stick with doing Reading Kingdom for an hour or more, just to make the next level, then the next, and so on. She never felt like it was too difficult or boring…she just plain loved it.

I know this is not very specific, but there was a lot to like about Reading Kingdom. I liked how there was an introductory evaluation to see where your child needed to be placed within the program. It seemed right on for Firefly’s abilities. The work was never too difficult nor was it so simple that she got bored or wanted to quit before completing a section. Her older siblings (Cowboy and Ladybug) helped her through the first few lessons, but after that, she worked quite well on her own. As the teacher, I also liked how the program covers all six skills needed for reading and writing success.

Firefly just loved the program. I loved how she’d crack up at the funny animations, and every time she achieved a new certificate/award for her progress, she was so proud.” – Heather Drinkwater
