Learn to read at Reading Kingdom: Laughter included!

learn-to-read
Tracy is a mom whose daughter enjoys to learn to read and laugh with Lingo and company at Reading Kingdom.  Here’s what she thinks of our fun learning program:

“[My daughter] Middlest said she really enjoyed the program…The graphics are colorful and appealing, and many of the icons that popped up after my daughter answered correctly had her laughing hysterically…She is very hands-on and loves computer work. She progressed well through the program and never gave me any complaint about the program. As a matter of fact, she often asked if she could do “the owl lessons.” She also learned to find all of her letters on the keyboard and was able to practice quite a bit of spelling.” — Tracy Glockle

Lingo Likes Family Literacy!

Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.” – Emilie Buchwald

The importance of family reading time cannot be overstated.  Years of research has shown endless benefits associated with reading to children and it remains a strong indicator of future academic success.  Lingo flies all over the internet to find the best sites for kids, parents and educators alike and that’s why today’s site Lingo likes is The National Center for Family Literacy at Famlit.org.   Here’s more about them from their website:
best-websites-for-kids
“Our emphasis is on family literacy for a simple reason – study after study shows that family, home and community are the true drivers of a child’s education. Consider:

•    Children’s reading scores improve dramatically when their parents are involved in helping them learn to read.

•    Low family income and a mother’s lack of education are the two biggest risk factors that hamper a child’s early learning and development.

Literacy is essential to success in today’s economy, now more than ever. The family literacy approach harnesses the strength of parent-child bonds to help those who are most at risk of failing economically, emotionally and socially. We build success by strengthening their confidence, increasing their ability and broadening their outlook. The results have an impact on a personal level as well as a national one.”

If your children are four or older, they can learn to read at Reading Kingdom.  Our award-winning, patented reading software has taught thousands of children to read.  Read testimonials from parents and educators, then click here to sign up for a free 30 day trial of our interactive reading program.

Our interactive reading program is a wise investment!

interactive-reading-program
Teaching children to read is one of the best investments you can make during the years of early learning development.  Our interactive reading program does exactly that, giving them an interest in wanting to learn to read.  Becky thinks we’ve broken the mold for teaching to read. Here’s what she has to say:

“Reading Kingdom is an online program designed to teach children ages 4-10 years old how to read and write (to a third grade level).  This is an interactive reading program and you can customize it based on each child’s needs. I found it very easy to use and because it is so fun, children feel as if they are playing a game and are eager to practice. My daughter loved this as a way to get more computer time; I didn’t mind because I know this program was helping her have fun and get better at reading!

This program isn’t your every-day-run-of-the-mill reading program! I found it uniquely different in the way it brings in elements of phonics (and whole language) and added in other skills needed to achieve reading and writing success. There weren’t a bunch of complicated rules to work through; we noticed the use of something called the “six skills method.” This method focuses on sequencing, motor skills, phonemic awareness, meaning, grammar, and reading comprehension. This reading enhancement program works with any curriculum and can used in any homeschool, preschool – 3rd grade classrooms, ESL programs, and special education classes.

My daughter especially liked the graphics used throughout the program, she was always engaged and never lost interest! I smiled because I knew she was learning and having fun at the same time. One of the things she does is try to look at pictures and determine what is said in the sentence based on what the picture looks like. My daughter learned very quickly to go right to the sentence instead of trying to evaluate the picture instead. :)

I found this program to be comprehensive in what it had to offer, definitely worth its weight in gold!” — Becky Gustafson

Plant the seeds that will grow a love for literacy in your children.  When they reap what you sow, you’ll be very happy that you’ve introduced them to our interactive reading program.  We’re so confident that we’ll give you the initial tools you need to get started.  Click here to claim a free 30 day trial of Reading Kingdom – we’ll see you soon!

Funny Stories for Kids: Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs: As Retold by Mo Willems

funny-stories-kids-goldilocks-three-dinosaurs

Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs: As Retold by Mo Willems
is one of Reading Kingdom’s recommended funny stories for kids. Melissa Young explains why:

“What You Need to Know:

Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs: As Retold by Mo Willems, is a hilarious, original re-telling of the classic fairy-tale.

• Only the ingenius mind of Mo Willems could come up with this creative take on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs: As Retold by Mo Willems, will make a fantastic, funny read-aloud.

Summary:

In this clever re-telling of the old classic Goldilocks tale, three dinosaurs (Papa, Mama, and some other dinosaur who happened to be visiting from Norway) decide to go out. But before they leave, they meticulously make their beds, fix their chairs and leave delicious bowls of chocolate pudding (of various temperatures) on the table….for no reason (wink, wink). Mama Dinosaur mentions, as she leaves the house:

“I sure hope no innocent little succulent child happens by our unlocked home while we are…uhhh…someplace else!” (wink, wink again)

As no reader will be too shocked to learn, a little girl named Goldilocks shows up and lets herself into the dinosaur’s house. Goldilocks does everything we have come to expect of her; she eats the pudding, she sizes up the chairs and opts for the bed. But Goldilocks comes to the slow conclusion that she is in the wrong house (and wrong story!) and hightails it out of there before the hungry dinosaurs can come back and eat her!

I have come to expect the most hilarious and creative storytelling from Mo Willems, and he doesn’t disappoint with Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs: As Retold by Mo Willems. The entertaining and clever ideas that spill out of him, paired with his fantastic illustrations, which only make these stories funnier, are truly amazing.

This would be a perfect multi-age read-aloud. Little kids will just love the new spin on an old tale and older kids will enjoy the tongue-in-cheek humor. They will feel like they are “in” on the joke. I can’t recommend this storybook enough! It’s a perfect holiday gift.

Adults will enjoy reading it just as much as the kids. That is what makes Mo Willems’ humor so special: it is appealing to a wide variety of ages and is never at the expense of others. His humor never, ever hurts others or makes fun of anything. This is such a nice example for kids of all ages.”

Have your children read “Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs: As Retold by Mo Willems? What did they think of this funny story?
