Recommended Reading for Kids: To the Top: Climbing the World’s Highest Mountain by Sydelle Kramer

To the Top: Climbing the World’s Highest Mountain is one of the Reading Kingdom’s recommended books for kids. Reading expert and Reading Kingdom creator Dr. Marion Blank explains why.

To the Top: Climbing the World’s Highest Mountain tells the engrossing story of the first successful expedition to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

Because it is often so “dry,” many children find history to be “boring.”

Not so with this book. It has the power both to engage and inform and in so doing, it truly makes history come alive. It covers it all: the motivations, the preparations, the challenges and the ultimate conquest. Along the way, children learn a lot about geography as well.

For those whose reading skills are at about fourth grade level, the book can be read independently. For most children from six to eight years of age, it is best if the book is read to them.
