A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, is one of the Reading Kingdom’s recommended books for children. Reading expert and Reading Kingdom creator, Dr. Marion Blank explains why:
This book offers an intricate story that is sophisticated and at the same time, full of warmth and love. It tells of the adventures of a family where two children, Meg and Charles, are faced with the situation of a missing father. He is a physicist who is thought to have run off. Refusing to accept this judgment, the children, accompanied by some rather strange people, start on a dangerous quest through space in search of their parent. To do this, they are forced to travel behind the shadow of an evil power that is darkening the cosmos. This is not a science fiction book, although it has elements of that genre. To survive, the travelers must rely on their individual and collective strengths, delving deep within themselves to find answers. The book offers the reader a phenomenal experience in challenging concepts of time, space, along with the eventual triumph of good over evil.
