A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond, is one of the Reading Kingdom’s recommended books for children. Reading expert and Reading Kingdom creator, Dr. Marion Blank explains why:
Many, many children are familiar with the stuffed animal by the name of Paddington. This book brings that endearing bear to life with clever language and preposterous humor. In it, the Brown family meets Paddington on a railway platform in London where he is sitting on a battered suitcase, with a sign around his neck that reads, “Please look after this bear. Thank you.” Of course, that is just what they do, while having no awareness of the turmoil he is going to bring into their lives. Although Paddington Brown (his new name as a member of the family) is well-meaning and always polite, he has an endless propensity for getting into trouble. The result is an enchanting set of misadventures that have delighted millions over the years. This is a wonderful book for reading to young children or for young readers to read on their own.
