Recommended Books for Children: The Wind in the Willows

Wind in the Willows children's book

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, is one of the Reading Kingdom’s recommended books for children. Reading expert and Reading Kingdom creator, Dr. Marion Blank explains why:

This book, initially published in 1908, is a classic in books for children. Its four key animal characters combine to create a magical quality that is irresistible. At a child’s level, the story is about friendship and about life in an imagined world centered around the river. At a more sophisticated level, without being preachy, it yields some key insights into our lives. And it does all this via an enormously rich language that does wonders for children’s verbal skills.
